At Tucson Spectrum, Main Event Tucson is an entertainment center that’s popular for family outings. “Darth Vader’s hanging out in there and you go into virtual reality and beat him up with lightsabers,” Baker says. “There’s bowling, laser tag, mini-golf—there’s a lot,” Baker says. Annual events are often held at Kennedy Park, like October’s Blue Heritage Festival—an all-day celebration with live music, food and games. “There’s always a lot of activities going on at Kennedy Park,” Baker says. “You can rent space and have parties there.”
Schools close to home
Rose is part of the Tucson Unified School District, rated B overall by Niche. Local kids may start school at the neighborhood’s C-minus-rated C.E. Rose K-8 School, before moving on to the B-minus-rated Pueblo High—a magnet school for communication arts and technology. Pueblo students may take career and technical education courses in disciplines like digital photography and film, as well as dual-enrollment classes for college credit at Pima Community College.

Interstate 19 borders Rose, granting easy access to downtown Tucson about 5 miles away. East Irvington Road and East Ajo Way, local thoroughfares, are lined with sidewalks and Sun Tran bus stops; the area’s also bikeable, though there aren’t bike lanes in the neighborhood. “Tucson’s very sparse, so you really need a car,” Baker says. The Veteran’s Hospital is about a mile away, and Banner - University Medical Center South is about 3 miles away; Tucson International Airport is 6 miles away.
