Crescent Heights is located directly on historic route 66 in Tulsa.
Crossroads of old and new Route 66
There are places along the fabled Route 66 where the highway’s original route meets its updated course, melding stories of the past with the promise of the future. One such spot can be found in Crescent Heights, a Tulsa neighborhood southeast of downtown. Curious tourists converge around the plaques and pedestals at the Route 66 Interpretive Plaza to read about the history of the highway and its bygone landmarks. Just as the realignment of Route 66 bridges the past and the future, the neighborhood’s placement blends city convenience with suburban appeal. “We call it country living in the city,” says Chuck Breckenridge, Realtor with Keller Williams Advantage and a long-time resident. “Virtually every house in the neighborhood has a half-acre or acre-sized lot, so you have a feeling of seclusion.” That’s a perk in any neighborhood and almost unheard of within Tulsa’s city limits.
Crescent Heights is located just West of Hwy 169 in Tulsa.
A Crescent of highways
Crescent Heights residents have access to several of the city’s major highways. The Mingo Valley Expressway and Interstate 44 create the eastern and southern borders, respectively. Route 66 cuts a path through the neighborhood's top half, serving as the major thoroughfare and providing a straight shot to downtown Tulsa 10 miles away. The trip downtown takes about 40 minutes via the MetroLink Tulsa bus system, which has a few stations and stops along Route 66. Tulsa International Airport is about 4 miles away.
Brick ranch-style homes with generous lawns
Brick ranch-style houses dating to the 1960s are typical in this part of Tulsa, but generous lot sizes set apart the homes in Crescent Heights. A half-acre to an acre provides enough space to host outdoor gatherings, put up a playset or plant a garden. Stout rows of mature trees lend shade and privacy to front and back lawns. Some properties include attached garages, and most have plenty of driveway space. There aren’t many sidewalks, so pedestrians should be prepared to navigate traffic. Prices start at $200,000 and cap off around $300,000, depending on square footage and lot size.
Many of the homes in Crescent Heights have well kept yards for residents to enjoy the outdoors.

Skelly Elementary is a part of the Tulsa Public School District.
Starting out at Skelly Elementary
School days begin at Skelly Elementary, a dual-language school that earns a C-minus from Niche. After that, students move on to Hale Middle School, which also gets a C-minus, and Nathan Hale High School, which receives a C. None of these schools are in the neighborhood, but each is within 3 miles.
Freddies Hamburgers is a well known establishment for residents of Crescent Heights.
Hitch a ride to Freddie’s Hamburgers
The ride along Route 66 reveals a trove of dining options, with many showcasing the neighborhood's Hispanic influence. El Gallo Loco, a casual Mexican joint, is tucked within a small shopping center near the disc golf course. More Tex-Mex favorites are available at El Chico on the other end of the neighborhood. The closest grocery option is Las Americas on South Garnett Road, about 1 mile away. Freddie’s Hamburgers is a classic roadside stop with cherry-colored vinyl stools alongside a Formica counter. Juicy burgers topped with squares of golden cheese arrive on red-and-white checkered paper. On the way home, motorists can stop by the disco-themed car wash to shine up their rides.
Disc golf at Dovillio
Joggers, dog walkers and cyclists head to the Mingo Trail to get their daily exercise. The multiuse path traverses 5 miles as it winds along the shore of Mingo Creek. Picnic tables are alongside the path for those who want to make a day of it. Following the trail across Route 66 leads to the Dovillio Disc Golf Course, a flat and lightly wooded course offering a variety of shot shapes.
