Forest Hills-Wildwood
Suburban Neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa County 74104, 74114
Upscale homes in south Tulsa
Though the neighborhood clocks in at just under a square mile – and its residential portion makes up an even smaller amount – you get a lot more land here than in surrounding areas. Most homes come with quarter-to-full-acre lots that ease residents into 1930s colonials with lavish features like extended front stoops, pergolas, raised back decks, built-in pools and basketball courts, fenced-in backyards and up to four-car garages. Even rarer architectural feats like ’50s Monterey homes with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and cabanas can be found here, too. Since most properties here average more than 3,000 square feet and come equipped with high-end amenities, the asking prices tend to be much higher than the city average, running from $800,000 to upward of $3 million. “Homes typically sell quickly since this is a very desirable area of Midtown,” Bryant says.Highly rated public and private options
The schools here – both of which are private – are just as lauded. In the northern end and running for more than 90 years, Monte Cassino Catholic School serves prekindergarten through eighth grade with a faith-based education that places emphasis on social, moral and ethical development. It boasts a 100% acceptance rate to students’ high school of choice, as well as an A-plus grade from Niche. Making up the neighborhood’s heart, Cascia Hall Preparatory has a liberal arts-driven curriculum, a nine-to-one student-teacher ratio, a perfect college acceptance rating and an A-plus from Niche as well. Public-school students here attend Council Oak Elementary, sitting just a mile south with a B-plus from Niche, and emphasizing both hands-on and collaborative learning. It feeds students into Edison Preparatory, which offers award-winning fine arts programs and the only secondary deaf education program in Oklahoma with an A-minus Niche rating.
Drive to Tulsa's city center
Locals can use Utica Avenue and Route 64 for the 10-minute drive to downtown Tulsa, and Interstate 44 can take travelers to the city's outlying suburbs.Shop at Utica Square
Forest Hills-Wildwood doesn’t have any parks, but retail therapy epicenter Utica Square is here to fill in the entertainment gaps. Opening its doors in 1952 as Tulsa’s first suburban area dedicated to shopping and dining, it has since expanded to more than 40 stores, catering to a variety of needs. Browse Banana Republic for clothes, check out Pottery Barn for your home décor needs or get your prescription filled at Walgreens. This mall also holds several local dining hits. A favorite for every meal of the day, Queenies offers specials like chorizo breakfast tacos to kick off your morning and chicken salad sandwiches to ease into the afternoon. It may be best known for its dessert selection, though, with its black magic chocolate layer cake and lemon squares known to fly off its shelves. If you’re seeking a heartier meal, stop by Wild Fork for upscale fare. Open for more than a quarter-century, it specializes in a little bit of everything, ranging from traditional breakfast platters like Southwestern omelets to Szechuan stir fry and strip steak salad. Keep the classy vibes going at Bar Serra, where eccentric cocktails and mocktails – like the Wallflower, mixing blackberry, elderflower and light hops – come to life alongside a just-as-deluxe menu.
