A Tulsa neighborhood embracing tradition
Renaissance is a term that evokes thoughts of renewal. Literally translating as “to be reborn” from French. For art historians, the Renaissance is a period marked by artists demonstrating an appreciation for classical themes and techniques, all the while working to improve upon those techniques. Renaissance was, in other words, an artistic revival of classical elements. It should be no surprise that the Renaissance neighborhood of Tulsa reflects many of these qualities. Located just east of downtown Tulsa, Renaissance shares a story with an eclectic collection of shops and restaurants off 11th Street, better known as the historic Route 66 and it sits right near the University of Tulsa adding color and energy to a neighborhood near the center of the action. “It’s centrally located in Tulsa and right in the heart of midtown,” says Elizabeth Beaubien, Realtor with Keller Williams Advantage.

Tulsa’s culinary scene embedded at 11th/Lewis
For visitors looking to get a taste of local Tulsa Cuisine, head to the corner of 11th and Lewis for Mother Road Market, a local favorite featuring an eclectic display of culinary talent and innovation. “That’s a food hall that’s really popular. It’s got a bunch of different start-up chefs. And there’s some new shopping going in around there,” Beaubien notes. Mother Road Market has around 20 different restaurants within, including Akira for gourmet sushi and ramen, or Chicken & the Wolf, serving up Tulsa’s hottest chicken. The 11th Street corridor has recently undergone a lot of revitalization in bringing in many new businesses for visitors to explore. For everyday shopping needs, Reasor’s is conveniently located in the southwest quadrant of the neighborhood. A Target and a Lowe’s are also located nearby.

Century homes and one-bedroom Bungalows
In Renaissance homes range between cozy one bedroom bungalows to grand estates dating back more than a century. “It’s older traditional style homes but a lot of charm, and a lot of character,” Beaubien adds. “(They’re) well kept with a lot of pride in home ownership over there.” Buyers can find a number of different architectural styles with homes dating back to the 20s and 30s that have been artfully maintained. Similarly, the neighborhood has several one story bungalows offering a lower entry point for prospective homeowners. A bungalow typically lists for around $121,000, and prices can go up to $480,000 for a spacious four-bedroom/four-bathroom farmhouse-style home.
