Springdale
Suburban Neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa County 74110

Long rows of bungalows at budget-friendly prices
Springdale’s residential streets don’t subscribe to a traditional grid pattern. Single-story bungalows sit back from the road, bordered by driveways and strips of lawn. Most homes date to the 1940s and ’50s, with a few older builds sprinkled in. Home prices can vary depending on the state of the property, but most bungalows start at around $80,000 for a fixer-upper and top out at $250,000 for a new or remodeled three-bedroom home. The unusual layout and lack of sidewalks make it challenging to navigate the area on foot.
Springdale Park’s pavilion and playground
The neighborhood’s namesake park lies adjacent to North Lewis Avenue and East Pine Street. Vivid play structures and a regal-looking pavilion make it difficult to walk past the space without stopping. Visitors can walk the loop trail, enjoy a picnic in the shade or practice scissor kicks on the soccer field. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the water playground offers a cool respite from the summer heat. Because of the park’s central location, it’s an easy walk from many houses in the neighborhood, but there’s ample parking for those who prefer to drive. And speaking of driving: The Outsiders House Museum in nearby Crutchfield showcases settings and memorabilia from Francis Ford Coppola's classic 1983 film.
School days at Springdale Elementary
For most students, it’s an easy walk to Springdale Elementary School on East Pine Street. The school offers a dual language program, allowing youngsters to build literacy in English and Spanish as early as the second grade. Grades 6 through 8 are spent at Monroe Demonstration Academy, then it’s on to McLain High School for Science and Technology. The middle and high schools are located a few miles northwest of Springdale. All schools in the pipeline have a Niche grade of C-minus.
The Cherokee Expressway commute
It’s easy for commuters to hop on the Cherokee Expressway for the 7-minute drive to downtown Tulsa, and it takes about 10 minutes to get to Tulsa National Airport from most houses in the neighborhood. MetroLink Tulsa bus stops and stations along East Pine Street and North Lewis Avenue are convenient in a pinch. However, owning a car is preferable since the streets aren’t all that pedestrian-friendly.Nosh along North Lewis Avenue
Springdale’s principal thoroughfare is North Lewis Avenue, cutting a diagonal path from the Cherokee Expressway. Restaurants like Big Daddy’s BBQ, Southern Style Eatery and Chinese joint No. 1 Kitchen fortify the landscape on either side. This is also where locals will find the Springdale Shopping Center, a one-stop destination with a clothing retailer, beauty supply shop, cannabis dispensary and Save A Lot grocery store. Near the playground, Moonsky's and Daylight Donuts features the unbeatable one-two punch of cheesesteaks and yeast-raised donuts. Oasis Fresh Market is also nearby, offering free breakfast and lunch to local residents 18 and under all summer long. The community market is the only Tulsa grocery store to participate in the Double Up Program, which allows shoppers to earn $1 worth of fresh produce for every dollar they spend with a cap of $20 per day.
