Classic 1950s North Tulsa community
Many Tulsa street names are pulled from local and national figures, including presidents, notable Tulsa residents and Native American tribes. However, when street names went down the alphabet, there was a problem: a distinct lack of candidates whose last name started with X. Rather than skip it, city planners opted to invent a name that started with X. Thus, Xyler Street was born and, with it, the north Tulsa neighborhood that takes its name. Like most north Tulsa communities, Xyler is lined with 1950s-era homes offering a quiet, residential setting a few miles from downtown.

Ranch homes and new properties for low prices
Ranch-style homes are common in Xyler, many built during the 1950s in a post-war housing boom, but there are some newly built properties peppered in as well. Homes are tightly packed along the residential roads, often separated by front and backyard fencing. Homes in the neighborhood have recently sold between $65,000 and $160,000, with homes on the higher end of the spectrum benefiting from modern renovations. “Some of the houses at the lower end need some work, but there are houses in the neighborhood that are really turnkey, too,” says Dafne Aguilar, a real estate agent with Rausch Coleman Homes. “For buyers who want a lower price point, it’s a great neighborhood.”
