A small neighborhood offering access to the rest of East Texas
At first glance, Swan Lake seems like it’s out in the middle of nowhere. Homes sit far back on vast lots dense with tall, mature trees, sometimes so far back they’re obscured from the main road. Sprawling backyards offer tranquil water views. Yet this tiny Smith County neighborhood is as centrally located as one in the middle of a major metropolis. It's halfway between Lindale and Tyler and not far from bigger cities like Longview, accessible by Interstate 20. Access to the major interstate is a big draw to this part of East Texas, where neighborhoods can be isolated, and commutes can be long. “If you live close to I-20, you’re open to opportunities you wouldn’t necessarily get living farther south,” says Annie Dwyer, a real estate broker with Brooklyn Rose Realty Group and a Tyler resident.
