Rural, farming community in Moshannon State Forest
Bordered by Moshannon State Forest on three sides, Union Township is a rural community with older homes on large lot sizes. Created out of land that was originally a part of nearby Boggs Township in 1850, historians believe the town was named after a multi-denominational Union Church in the area. While much of Centre County had booming mining industries in the 1800s and 1900s, Union has predominantly been a farming community since its formation. Today, the community retains its farmland roots while also offering easy access to modern conveniences in State College, 8 miles away.
