Walking in Hanns Park and sailing on the Napa River
Neighboring Hanns Park has dirt trails that wind through eucalyptus groves, connecting to the path that parallels Blue Rock Springs Creek. The park also has a disc golf course and a shaded picnic spot with barbecue grills. The park’s small outdoor amphitheater provides a place for all ages to put on a show or watch Shakespeare in the Park for free during the summer.
Vallejo is surrounded by the Napa River and Carquinez Strait, and the city was known for the ships manufactured at Mare Island Naval Shipyard throughout the 20th century. “Sailing is a common pastime for Vallejo as a whole because of the area’s naval history,” says Luke George, a Bay Area resident who occasionally works in Vallejo. Although Sky View is inland, boat owners can dock at Vallejo Yacht Club or Glen Cove Marina.

Even locals do it.”
