Music and sailing on the Napa River
Boat owners can dock at Vallejo Yacht Club on the Napa River or at Glen Cove Marina along Carquinez Strait. Vallejo’s location between these bodies of water allows for various sailing routes. “Sailboats travel slow between the 680 and 80 freeways,” says Noble Griswold, avid sailor, Broker at Realty World and Vallejo resident for the past 40 years. “Going all the way down to San Francisco Bay, it’s three to four hours by sailboat, one hour by powerboat.” Across the Napa River from the rest of Vallejo, the annual Dock of Bay Music Festival brings rock and roll to Mare Island. A day pass provides parking and festival access. “But I have a friend who parks his boat and watches the show for free,” says Luke George, a Bay Area resident who occasionally works in Vallejo. “Dock of Bay is like a smaller version of BottleRock,” an annual three-day music and wine festival in nearby Napa Valley.
Biking to nearby Hanns Park
There are no public recreation areas in Woodridge other than the bike path that parallels Blue Rock Springs Creek. However, this path connects to the disc golf course at Hanns Park and the skatepark at Wardlaw Park. When exercising outside, residents should be aware that Vallejo temperatures can reach triple digits. The city experiences some poor air quality days, partially due to the vehicle exhaust from Interstate 80.

Residents love walking the paths in Hanns Park in Vallejo.
