A hilly, rural neighborhood south of Pittsburgh
Fallowfield Township’s rolling, bucolic landscape occupies a sliver of Pennsylvania about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh. The neighborhood serves as the western outskirts of Charleroi, which sits along the Monongahela River and operates as the primary town center for Fallowfield Township residents. “It has a small-town, community feel,” says Michelle Rollins, a real estate broker for simpliHOM. “The town of Charleroi does a lot of events as far as parades and community things. Everybody kind of knows everybody, and it’s a place where you can get to know your neighbors and feel part of a community.”
Interstate 70 carves its way across the southern portions of Fallowfield Township. “It’s a good, convenient location off the interstate,” Rollins says. “It’s not far from local shopping. There are a lot of parks and river activities, and boating is big in the area.” Though few established parks sit within the boundaries of the neighborhood, the surrounding area is dotted with parks large and small. Recreational spaces range from Mingo Creek County Park, which encompasses about 2,600 acres to the north, to smaller riverside parks on the Monongahela in Charleroi. Residents have access to recreation on the waters of the river, or simply on terra firma, from Fallowfield Township. "There's a really good restaurant there and it’s close to Rostraver and Charleroi, which have shopping and restaurants," says Devie Rollison, a Realtor with Realty One Group Gold Standard. “It's pretty much a residential community."
A bucolic landscape populated with single-family homes
Single-family homes make up most of the landscape in Fallowfield Township. “It’s definitely homeowners as opposed to renters,” Rollins says. “It has a lot of ranch-style and multi-level homes like split-entries. Fallowfield is on the outskirts, right outside town. It’s more of a country setting, so you do have houses sitting on larger lots for the most part.” Prices for single-family homes typically range from $100,000 to $300,000, with many costing around $200,000. Most properties date to the middle of the 20th century.Crime in Fallowfield Township receives a CAP score of 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.

La Eda’s is a great one. Sonny’s Prime Rib Room is gaining a lot of traction and there has been a lot of chatter about it in this corner of the state. The Back Porch is one of the local famous ones, as well.” La Eda’s dishes out Italian cuisine, while The Back Porch has creative takes on American food. Other nearby stops include Diddlebugs Pizza & Hoagies and Lenhart’s Tavern within the neighborhood.
