On the far east side of Vancouver, Washington, just north of Route 14 and the Columbia River is the small suburb of Fisher’s Creek. The community is home to excellent schools, accessible parks and a small handful of nearby eateries and amenities, all within walking distance of its residential streets.

Homes

“Fisher’s Creek has distinct subdivisions that vary in property size, house style and HOA regulations,” says Shastine Bredlie, the owner of Bredlie and Associates at eXp Realty. “There are some gated communities like the Gentrys subdivision that offer more privacy, but homes are modern and well-kept across the board.” The average listing price here is $620,000, which is around $100,000 higher than the Vancouver average. Most homes were built between the 1990s and early 2000s, with the occasional new construction hitting the market. Modern craftsman and Tudor-style architecture is common here, and single-family homes sit close together on 4,000-square-foot lots. Townhomes with three bedrooms and 1,600 square feet can be found on the market’s lower end for between $500,000 and $550,000, while 2,600 square foot modern traditional homes are listed for $750,000 and above.

Schools

Families of Fisher’s Creek are served by Evergreen School District, with each of the neighborhood’s public schools earning impressive Niche grades of B-plus or higher. Fishers Landing Elementary School is within a 1-mile walk of all the neighborhood’s homes. The elementary school earns an A-minus grade and has a student-to-teacher ratio of 12-1. Shahala Middle School is located 3 miles north and serves 900 local students. To finish out their K-12 careers, students can attend Mountain View High School, which Niche names the 38th-best college prep public high school in Washington.

Parks

“The neighborhood’s subdivisions are connected by sidewalks and gravel walkways that wind through its wooded enclaves,” Bredlie says. Some of these walking paths can take residents to Fisher’s Creek Park, where parents bring their young kids to use the playground. For more expansive recreational areas and sports facilities, folks can visit Prune Hill Sports Park, which features a baseball diamond, soccer fields and a basketball court.

Shopping and Dining

The neighborhood's eastern boundary, Southeast 192nd Avenue, is home to a cluster of small shopping centers where shoppers will find a Natural Grocers and a Quality Food Centers grocery store. "Everything is within five minutes of Fisher's Landing," Bredlie says. "That's one of the things that makes this area special." Driving north on 192nd takes residents toward a handful of restaurants like the Mexican-themed breakfast restaurant ¿Otra Vez?, JB's Taphouse and Grill, and the Wyld Pines Public House. Wyld Pines has a rustic and laid-back atmosphere, and patrons can be found enjoying dishes like chicken piccata and the dry-aged steak burger alongside a refreshing beer or cider from the 12 rotating draft options.

Transportation

While Fisher’s Creek is on the far east side of the city, it only takes about 15 minutes to get to downtown Vancouver via Route 14, which can be accessed just south of the neighborhood’s residential streets. In Fisher’s Creek, residents rarely need to travel far for what they need, with everything located close to home.

I live in an ideal location in a small town near two bigger towns/cities: Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA. There are many, many stores near my home, so grocery or leisurely shopping is not a problem. There are a wide variety of stores within 5-10 miles of me, which is really great because my family and I can get everything we need with a relatively small amount of transportation travel.
