Landover-Sharmel

Homeowner's associations take on landscaping in Landover-Sharmel
Those who are on the market to buy in Landover-Sharmel will find a range of prices, starting with three-bedroom townhouses—mostly built in the 2000s—that sell between $350,000 and $415,000. Despite the recent uptick in multi-family housing development, a significant portion of the neighborhood is still composed of single-family homes. Many residents take advantage of front lawn space with small flower gardens and creative landscape designs. Architecture in Landover-Sharmel is fairly uniform—most homes in the neighborhood feature contemporary traditional lines, vinyl facades in various shades of gray or blue, second-story overhangs and tuck-under garages. Those with three bedrooms built within the last 10 years usually sell between $400,000 and $450,000. Older homes, most of which are ramblers built in the 1970s, come with three to four bedrooms and cost between $500,000 and $600,000. Many of the neighborhood’s older builds are not part of a homeowner’s association. On the other hand, many of the newer builds are, making the more recently developed subdivisions and townhouses ideal for homeowners who don’t want to deal with landscaping responsibilities.Sports bars and Irish pubs on 112th Avenue
The shopping plaza on 112th Avenue is the commercial center of the neighborhood, with Safeway as its anchor. Grady’s Public House is the local Irish pub, pouring imported ales and spirits paired with traditional European pub fare, like bangers and mash or fish and ships. Be sure to try the cottage pie, a take on shepherd’s pie that swaps lamb with beef and comes with Irish soda bread. Across the avenue, Fiddlesticks Quilt Shop has everything to make the perfect statement blanket. Just up the road, Charlie’s Sports Bar and Grill is another local favorite, especially since there’s almost always a game or a mixed martial arts match on. When they’re not cheering their favorite team on, patrons play pool under neon lights or sample the kitchen’s extensive list of crispy apps, from fried pickles and onion rings to deep-fried ravioli and country-fried steak bites. Charlie’s has bar food down to a science, with seven variations of loaded fried and seven types of skillet mac and cheese.Seventeen training programs at Cascadia Technical Academy

However, it houses the neighborhood garden plots, as well as the neighborhood association’s annual summer picnic. Endeavour Neighborhood Park serves the three apartment complexes that surround it, as well as children getting out of Endeavour Elementary School, which backs up to the park. Its two and a half acres contain a playground and a small skate spot with a ramp and a rail to practice more advanced tricks.Quick access to Vancouver and Washougal waterfronts
Landover-Sharmel exists entirely between 18th Street and 28th Street, both of which lead to Interstate 205. Using the interstate, commuters can reach Downtown Vancouver in under 20 minutes, and Downtown Portland in about half an hour. Interstate 205 also connects to Highway 14, which brings drivers to two different waterfront developments along the Columbia River. “The biggest attraction, if you are willing to drive, is the Vancouver waterfront development, if you want to be around people and restaurants and enjoy the water,” Lopatin says. “If you want more walking and nature, you will drive to Washougal. There are a lot of walking trails on that waterfront.”
