When you live in Venetian Village, you can have your own personal oasis right by the water. Properties may seem secluded, but the community stays close. “It’s a nice, quiet area where neighbors get along nicely,” says Shawn Schneider, a licensed real estate broker with Compass and long-time resident of Lake County. “They’re pretty darn friendly here.”

Venetian Village uniquely encompasses two forest preserves and four lakes within its neighborhood boundaries, giving the area a peaceful vacation-home vibe all year long. The streets themselves are very grid-like, and homes are typically surrounded by their own wooded areas. “It’s a very mature neighborhood that’s well-established with trees,” Schneider says.

Most of the homes in Venetian Village are either in the subdivision below Duck Farm Forest Preserve or the one in between Sand Lake and Miltmore Lake. You can find simple ranch-style homes and split-levels with garages for $145,000 to $350,000, depending on location. These properties are either lined up on a street of similar houses or in their own private wooded section of the neighborhood. Every now and then, Tudors and log cabin-inspired lakefront properties will pop up on the market.

Families in the area have a few options on where to send their children to school. B J Hooper Elementary School is in Lake Villa School District 41 and has an A-minus Niche Grade. Also in District 41, Palombi Middle School is known for its after-school enrichment programs like sign language and gardening that give its students more opportunities for learning. From there, your child can attend Grayslake North High School in District 127. The district itself was awarded Exemplary Status by the State of Illinois, and Grayslake High School has an A grade on Niche. With a 92% graduation rate, you can rest assured that your child is set up for success.

When you live in Venetian Village, outdoor exploration comes as easy as breathing. Duck Farm Forest Preserve contains scenic wetlands and countryside landscaping that protects local waterfowl and wildlife along Slough Lake. The dog park on the land is off-leash and open to homeowners in the neighborhood. Fourth Lake Forest Preserve surrounds Fourth Lake with a grove of pines and spruces, creating a beautiful overlook that hikers can access along the Millennium Trail. There are several ponds and wetland areas the farther you travel into the preserve. Sand Lake and Miltmore Lake are both open to residents for recreational boating, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Miltmore Lake Park even lets you go swimming in the water at a beach area that also has a playground. “You can go fishing in the summer, and ice fishing in the winter,” Schneider continues.

After a long day on the water, grab a bite to eat at Fourth Lake Resort Bar & Grille, a restaurant right by the beach that offers outdoor seating with stunning views of the water. Their bacon-topped pierogis are sure to hit the spot. For anything else you might need, Rollins Crossing is south of the neighborhood and has a Tony’s Fresh Market for groceries, plus plenty of retail stores and chain restaurants.

If you enjoy waking up every morning to peace and quiet, then Venetian Village offers the perfect amount of seclusion you’re looking for combined with limitless outdoor activities to keep you entertained.
