Villa Ridge offers quiet streets and a close-knit community
About a 15-minute drive outside of Union , Villa Ridge is a rural community on the east side of Franklin County. Surrounded by farmlands and nature preserves, the area is considered a greenery-laden escape for working commuters. Quiet streets and relatively low crime rates also make the area popular. Villa Ridge has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4. “It’s a peaceful little town,” says Megan Grum, office secretary for Crosspoint Christian School. She says it's the people who make the area special. A tornado hit the region in March 2025 – an event she believes brought out the best in the community. “Neighbors were helping each other pick up debris, bringing out food,” Grum says. “It’s beyond words – the sheer amount of support they put out there.”
Homes are on large lots with rolling hills and greenery
Throughout the area’s neighborhoods, streets wind around gently rolling hills dotted with mature trees. Homes from the turn of the 21st century make up most real estate. Lots are larger than those in nearby suburban communities like Saint Clair and Sullivan , with the majority of them half an acre or more. Subdivisions like Villa Trail have some of the newest homes, including contemporary ranch-style houses and New Traditional designs, priced between $240,000 and $500,000. Midcentury options are also available, and range from about $200,000 to $480,000. The median price for a home in Villa Ridge is in the $360,000s, about $100,000 more than the Franklin County median.
Crosspoint Christian offers a parent-led private school model
The majority of Villa Ridge is served by Meramec Valley R-III School District, which has nine schools and a C from Niche. A small region is a part of the Washington School District, which has 10 schools and a B-plus. In 2022, Pacific High School received national attention when Project Lead the Way recognized its dedication to STEM and career-oriented curriculum. Those interested in faith-based education can attend Crosspoint Christian School, a private institution that serves kindergarten through 12th grade. The school bills itself as parent-led. “Our board is made up of elected parents or grandparents – people who have an affiliation with the students here,” Grum says. Missouri offers a school voucher program for underserved students interested in a private school education.
Nearby parks combine recreation with conservation education
Villa Ridge is about a 10-minute drive from Shaw Nature Reserve in Gray Summit . Established in 1925, the reserve combines the Missouri Botanical Garden with 2,400 acres of protected forests, wetlands and prairies. In addition to miles of trails and overlooks, the reserve hosts live concerts and classes on gardening and conservation. Robertsville State Park offers nature lovers options for camping, hiking and fishing along the Meramec River.
Most retail and restaurants are in nearby Union
Villa Ridge has limited shopping options, some locally owned businesses and a Dollar General on the northeast side. Many locals head to Union, which has an Aldi and various retail and dining options. Union’s Dahlia Café hosts breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu of upscale diner options like crepes, honey garlic pork chops and the breakfast chimichanga. Established in 1994, Labadie’s Hawthorne Inn offers fine dining in an old tavern atmosphere.
