Suburban golf community on Lake Smith
Tucked on Wesleyan Drive and down Cypress Point Boulevard among rolling hills, residents can find the quiet suburb of Cypress Point situated at the center point between Norfolk and Virginia Beach. “Cypress Point is a golf course community with country club offering not only optional membership for golfing and use of the large swimming pool but also a restaurant that’s open to the public,” says Realtor Judi McArthur with Rose and Womble Realty. In this neighborhood, residents are only minutes away from a number of shopping plazas and Interstate 64. With Virginia Beach to the east and the city of Norfolk to the west, there’s no shortage of nearby urban amenities. The Cypress Point golf course community is also unique in its lakeside living, as the neighborhood borders Lake Smith, which branches off from the larger Little Creek Reservoir.

Waterfront properties with scenic lakeside views
This neighborhood offers everything from condos and townhouses to single-family lakeside retreats. The homes here have varying architectural styles, including contemporary homes, Colonial Revivals, and newly built traditional-style residences ranging from $400,000 to $795,000. Along Course View Circle, residents can find grand, contemporary residences, two-car garages, and large, well-landscaped yards. Driving down Deford Road will show you attached condos and mature oak trees adorning the streets. Locals can also find a number of modern waterfront homes down Smith Cove Circle with scenic views of Lake Smith. Additionally, one of the features of the Cypress Point community is its limited entrance and exit points; “One of my favorite aspects is it’s a protected community; when you come in, there’s only one main way to get in the neighborhood, so you don’t get a lot of traffic,” McArthur says.
