Spacious lots and rural landscapes in Waite Hill
Settled amongst a plateau near the rushing waters of the Chagrin River is Waite Hill. The rural, suburban village was incorporated in the late 1920s. In Waite Hill, many lots are at least an acre in size or larger, giving homes a feeling of privacy and seclusion. Driving through the village, you'll see a mix of farmhouses with classic wide front porches and stone chimneys. Several estates sit across the street from vast open fields. Wooden cabins sit atop rolling hills, and Colonial Revivals add an air of distinction to the rural landscape. You will also notice a number of decorative front walls with gates that welcome homeowners. Roger Takla, a Realtor with Howard Hanna, says the median price for Waite Hills homes can range between $500,000- $600,000. However, larger estates with several acres list for more than $1 million.
Life in Waite Hill is sure to be as peaceful as it gets.

Kirtland Elementary, which Niche ranks the second-best elementary school in Lake County, garners an A-minus rating. Kirtland Middle scores a B-plus, while Kirtland High boasts an A-minus and school pride. All three schools share a campus along Chillicothe Road.
Students on the west side of the village are zoned to Willoughby-Eastlake City School District, which earns a B-minus. Edison Elementary, which scores a B-minus, promises students access to the Makerspace for interactive, hands-on activities. Students may then progress to the C-plus-rated Willoughby Middle and the B-rated South High School, named the fifth-best public high school in Lake County on Niche.

Nearby shopping and dining in Willoughby
Waite Hill is less than 5 miles from retail shops and dining in downtown Willoughby. Heading down Euclid Avenue, you'll notice a newly constructed ALDI supermarket for gathering home supplies and groceries. Along this roadway is the regional chain Panini's Bar and Grill, a casual eatery serving up wings, sandwiches, corned beef smash and other comfort foods. If you're in the mood for a cup of joe, try Kleifeld's Restaurant; the side of the building boasts a painted slogan that says, "Good coffee always." If you're looking to build your own taco, try the brightly colored Barrio Willoughby, a popular cocktail spot.

Golf, green space and nature preserves around Waite Hill
Just north of Waite Hill is the Kirtland Country Club, which has historical ties to the area dating back over 100 years. The social club features an 18-hole golf course and racquet sports facilities for members. "Waite Hill is so pretty and scenic. There are a lot of hills, and the entire community is very park-like," Takla says. The entire area is surrounded by green spaces and reservations. To the southeast is Chapin Forest Reservation, which has a sandstone quarry that played a vital role in constructing some of the earliest buildings in the region. The reserve is also a hotspot during the winter for its onsite ski lodge.
Traveling southwest will bring nature lovers to the beautiful 130-acre Hach-Otis Sanctuary State Nature Preserve, filled with hardwoods, chestnut trees and a bird sanctuary. Westward are the wildflowers, ravines and slippery elm trees of Gully Brook Park. This village has a rich history of preserving land and making a dedicated effort to protect its sensitive environments--making Waite Hill a naturally beautiful place to call home. That's one of the reasons why Realtor Takla calls Waite Hill one of Cleveland's best-kept suburban secrets.
