Homes that are 'young' for the Wakefield area
Montrose has a mix of single-family homes, apartments and condos. Housing here is newer than in other parts of Wakefield and features ranch-style, bi-level and new traditional homes. "It has what I would call 'young' housing," Hunt says. "I used to say the word 'new,' but it's sometimes 30 or 40 years old, but that's young for this area. Montrose is the area of town that at one time had the land to build." Condo sales prices range from $400,000 to $700,000. Smaller single-family homes typically sell for between $550,000 and $900,000, while larger estates can go for $1 million to $1.6 million. The average home value in Montrose is about $55,000 below the average for the Boston metro area.
Large New Traditional-style houses are becoming more and more common in Montrose.
