Proximity to transportation and commercial hubs 77 miles from NYC
In the Middle Hudson Valley, Wappinger, 10 miles from downtown Poughkeepsie and 77 miles from New York City, is appreciated for its accessibility to major roadways and trains. The town is bisected by U.S. Route 9, a popular commercial hub with strip malls and shopping centers. “Wappinger is a decent mix,” says Omar Harper, a Dutchess County resident and broker with Epique Realty. “You have heavily commercial areas, then you get out of there, and it’s very suburban with houses with a little more land space and larger lots. If you’re in Wappingers Falls village, it’s not as busy as New York, but it has a lower-end city vibe, with decent restaurants all right there.” The Village of Wappingers Falls borders Route 9 and is Wappinger’s commercial center and the gathering place for many community events.
Brick buildings, local shops, and a scenic waterfall give the Village of Wappingers Falls its timeless character.
Whether you're starting out or settling down, Wappinger has homes that fit your lifestyle and budget.
