Warrenville blends rural life with access to bigger cities
Warrenville is a rural community near the South Carolina-Georgia border that offers access to bigger cities like Augusta and Aiken. Home prices are typically lower in the community than those in neighboring cities. The area is a short drive from several parks and restaurants, and students can attend nearby public or private schools.
What it's like to live in the community
Warrenville’s streets are lined with tall trees and can be hilly. Residents typically travel by car, as amenities are apart and sidewalks are uncommon. The community’s median age is around 45, and its population over 65 is higher than the national average. Warrenville’s town center is suburban, but the environment gets more rural to the south. “It’s a cozy older town,” says Melanie Stephan, a Realtor with Real Estate One who lives in nearby Aiken.
What homes cost in Warrenville
The community is filled with traditional cottages and ranch-style homes as well as some New Traditional houses. Prices often go from the lower $100,000s to the upper $300,000s. There are a handful of manufactured homes that can range from the mid-$100,000s to the mid-$200,000s. The area’s home values are slightly below the Augusta metro area average. Properties along Augusta Road near Sand River may be in a flood zone. Property taxes in Aiken County are lower than in the city of Aiken, Stephan says.
Where area students attend school
Students are served by Aiken County Public Schools, including the community’s own Warrenville Elementary School. The district has a graduation rate of about 90%. South Carolina’s Education Scholarship Trust Fund awards more than $7,600 to students from families of low to moderate income. Applicants who meet the requirements are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. The top-rated Midland Valley Christian Academy, for prekindergarten through 12th-grade students, is less than 10 miles away.
Residents can commute to Augusta and Aiken
Thanks to its location off of U.S. Route 78, Warrenville residents can commute to Downtown Augusta in about 20 minutes, not counting rush hour traffic. The city of Aiken and Aiken Regional Medical Centers are around 15 minutes away. “Even Columbia is not terribly far, maybe an hour out,” Stephan says. “It’s easy to get onto Interstate 20 and get there.” Augusta Regional Airport offers direct flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas and Washington, D.C. It is roughly 25 minutes away.
Nearby parks and a golf course
Though Warrenville does not have parks of its own, several are within a few miles of the community:
- Langley Pond Park hosts watersports competitions and regattas.
- Boyd Pond Park provides sports courts, bike trails and a fishing pond.
- Hitchcock Woods offers more than 70 miles of trails.
- Gregg Park Civic Center hosts pickleball matches and health classes.
- Virginia Acres Park has ziplines and a rope climbing wall.
Restaurants are within a short drive
The community is not home to many restaurants, but there are a few places nearby. Popular options include:
- Jamrock Caribana, a Jamaican eatery in the area
- Midway Grill in Gloverville
- Blue Top Grill in Graniteville
- The Feed Sack, an upscale restaurant in Aiken
Residents can pick up groceries at Dollar General or at a nearby Sam’s Club.
