Webster is next to NASA and within 30 minutes of downtown Houston
Shoot for the moon in Webster, a gateway to the NASA Johnson Space Center, one of Houston's largest employers. As a commuter hub, Webster attracts buyers who appreciate the area’s unique blend of big box stores and modern amenities surrounding peaceful, tree-lined residential streets. “It’s one of the most convenient communities in the Houston area,” Omar Scanu, sales associate with Re/Max. “The prime location near I-45 puts you within 30 minutes of downtown Houston and Galveston.”
Webster's commuter-friendliness draws new home construction
A fast-developing area because of its location, new construction is popping up left and right in Webster. The three- to four-bedroom brick homes have open floor plans, small back patios and private, fenced-in backyards. Prices for these properties are between $450,000 and $650,000. “The more established homes are going to be ranch-style, primarily built in the 1960s and ‘70s, and are selling for an average of $300,000,” says Omar Scanu, sales associate with Re/Max. “The homes have potential, and a lot of people are buying them and making modern upgrades to the interior.”

Quick trip to tours at NASA Johnson Space Center
You'll have what many people across the Houston area and beyond travel for miles to see right at your fingertips. The Space Center science museum sits less than two miles east of the heart of Webster and features hundreds of space exhibits. Get a glimpse of the day-to-day life of astronauts in the International Space Station Gallery or step aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. There’s also a NASA Tram Tour, which will take you behind the NASA Johnson Space Center gates to learn more about how astronauts are trained.
Walking paths, splash pad and more at Texas Avenue Park, Walnut Park
After a day spent among the stars, head back to earth for fun in the sun at Texas Avenue Park. Get some fresh air with a walk along the nearly half-mile track, shoot hoops on the basketball courts or take the kids to the baseball-themed splash pad for a play date. Walnut Park offers another spot for a foray into the outdoors. Locals frequent the shaded quarter-mile-long walking paths to stretch their legs. While kids run around on the playground, you can relax under the shade of the small gazebo sitting at the heart of the park.
Shopping centers and Baybrook Mall sit off I-45
Webster’s shopping and dining epicenter sits off Interstate 45, which runs along the area’s western side. The Center at Baybrook and Baybrook Mall are where you’ll find larger retailers like Dillard’s, JCPenney and Macy’s. If you’re looking to get your hands on some Texas BBQ, take your pick from spots like Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ or Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse. Pappasito’s Cantina is the go-to spot for Tex-Mex food, while Saloon Door Brewing is where locals head to catch a Houston Astros, Texans or Rockets game on TV. For groceries, locals have the luxury of having a Costco and H-E-B Supermarket within the neighborhood. Adding another touch of convenience is the proximity you’ll have to major hospitals. The UTMB Health Clear Lake Hospital and the HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake campus sit adjacent to each other off West Medical Center Boulevard.
