It’s on the quieter side, and that’s a key part of the appeal in communities near Weirton and Steubenville. But there are still things for residents to take pride in, including a high-quality coffee shop and a beloved Greek restaurant. "Pretty much the whole of Weirton has become a bedroom community for Pittsburgh. It's very centrally located to Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia," says Jim Arehart, a Realtor with Century 21 Greathouse, who has sold homes in Weirton and the surrounding area for more than 8 years.

This Mediterranean-American casual restaurant's specialties include Greek-style fries, gyro pizzas and a wide sandwich menu."There's a Starbucks in progress and a couple of local coffee shops that blow Starbucks out of the water," Arehart says. Morning pick-me-ups are essential at The Coffee Bean Café and More, a cafe with chalkboard menus and a buzzing espresso machine on the inside and a drive-thru line on the outside. Across the state line in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, The Twister Restaurant & Ice Cream Shoppe offers traditional and soft-serve ice cream options along with all-day meals.

Just south of Weirton Elementary School
Kids in the Colliers Way area are zoned to Hancock County Schools. Weirton Elementary School is northwest of the neighborhood on Pennsylvania Avenue and holds a B-plus grade on Niche. After fourth grade, students continue to the B-minus ranked Weir Middle School. Weir High School hosts an annual food drive each November, where students are encouraged to bring in canned food items and other pantry staples for the Salvation Army. The school earns a B-minus grade on Niche.

Summer days at Starvaggi Memorial Park and Pool
Starvaggi Memorial Park and Pool is east Weirton’s primary hub for outdoor leisure. Amenities at the park include basketball, tennis, volleyball and bocce courts. Locals can also stop by for a game of roller hockey or an impromptu picnic. The pool opens each year from late May through the end of August and has a pair of water slides for guests to enjoy; as of 2024, plans are in place to redesign it with a zero-depth entry area and lap swimming lanes for the 2025 operating season.
Other areas in the northern Panhandle let locals familiarize themselves with the charms of West Virginia’s natural landscape. About 15 miles north of the community, Tomlinson Run State Park is a sprawling recreational area with wilderness campsites, boat docks and an intricate network of hiking trails spread across 2 miles of space.

Christmas on Main Street celebrations in Weirton
Just north of the neighborhood on Pennsylvania Avenue, Kenny B’s Bar & Grill is a casual bar with rotating drink specials and a menu featuring grilled cheeses, hot dogs and other pub grub selections. The bar shares its space with Smackin’ Axes, an axe-throwing space that mixes up the challenge by using a digital target board.Annual events in the Weirton area include Christmas on Main Street, where locals get together downtown in late November for a day of food trucks, live performances and merriment to kick off the holiday season. In the summertime, the city hosts an Independence Day parade on Main Street, a tradition in town since 1947. About 8 miles east of the neighborhood in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, the Pavilion at Star Lake is one of the Pittsburgh area’s hubs for live music from May to October. Well-known acts like Bob Dylan, Lana Del Rey, Dan + Shay, ODESZA and Dance Gavin Dance have played the venue in previous seasons.

Connected to the Ohio Valley through Highway 22
On the south end of the neighborhood, U.S. Highway 22 connects Colliers Way to the greater Weirton area. Pennsylvania Avenue offers quick access to restaurants and shopping areas in town. Residents are about 5 miles east of downtown Weirton; following the highway southwest, Steubenville is about 8 miles away across the Ohio state line. Commuters headed northeast to Pittsburgh can expect a 32-mile commute into the city.For emergencies, Weirton Medical Center is located immediately south of the neighborhood on the other side of Route 22.
