West Fallowfield Township’s rural charm is rooted in preservation
West Fallowfield Township looks like a pastoral painting. In this Chester County community, wooden picket fences surround vintage farmhouses, barns and silos rest on roadsides and corn grows tall along gently rolling hills. Backroads lead residents to their historic homes, many dating back to the 1800s and sitting on multiple acres. “One of the reasons it’s still rural is because there is no public sewer or water in most areas,” says broker/owner of NextHome Signature Mark Reale, a 30-year Chester County resident. “We can’t put up a townhouse community or something like that.” And the community will stay rural, as roughly 30% of Chester County's land is protected. Through various initiatives and grants, the county has conserved tens of thousands of acres of farmland, open space, parks and nature preserves.
