Isolated, mountainside living in Jordan Hills

Jordan Hills is a suburb in West Jordan next to the Oquirrh Mountains and the Mountain View Corridor, a major highway in the Salt Lake Valley. People can easily reach major employers in the Salt Lake area, like the CommonSpirit Holy Cross Hospital, the Salt Lake County Library and the University of Utah campus. “The access to mountains and outdoor recreation is a big draw,” says Craig Hawker, Owner of Action Team Realty, who has lived in Utah for 15 years. “People who live here can see some great views.” In Jordan Hills, people are far from all the sounds of Salt Lake City; downtown is 19 miles away.

2000s homes separated by white picket fences

Early 2000s homes with front gabled roofs are priced between $450,000 and $700,000, and brand-new homes, including Craftsmans and ranch-style houses, range from $650,000 to $1.2 million. “There are more newer homes here compared to other neighborhoods like Glenmoor,” Hawker says. “Most were built in the 2000s and after.” Homes sit close together and have grassy front lawns with enough space for small gardens. People can park their cars in garages, driveways or on the street; driveways are big enough for basketball hoops. Most backyards are separated by white picket fences. There are also townhomes with stone detailing and small driveways ranging between $400,000 and $500,000.

Daily commutes on Mountain View Corridor

Utah State Route 85, most commonly known as the Mountain View Corridor, is the main road that runs north to south through the area. Commuters can take the highway 19 miles to Salt Lake City. “One of the perks of living here is proximity to the highway,” says Ryan Pool, a Realtor with KW South Valley Realtors who sells homes in South Jordan. "You can get to all the action from the Mountain View Corridor. Jordan Hills couldn't be any closer to it." There is no public transportation in the area. The Salt Lake City International Airport is 17 miles north. The nearest hospital is CommonSpirit Holy Cross Hospital, 5 miles away.

Spend the day at Jordan Landing

Culver’s is a popular fast food chain in the neighborhood serving burgers, fries and concrete mixers, frozen desserts made with custards. People can sit down at O'Crab Cajun Seafood and Bar for seafood boils or shrimp alfredo 5 miles away in the Jordan Landing Shopping Center. Jordan Landing has over 100 stores, plus the Altitude Trampoline Park and the Rush Funplex, an indoor amusement center. Smith’s is the local grocery store on 7800 South, and people can get other essentials at the Big Lots across the street. The Utah Natural Meat and Milk is a grass-fed farm 3 miles north that sells food including bread, honey and eggs.
