Quaint Worcester County town
Welcome to Westborough, a Worcester County town that is loved for its quaint downtown area, top-rated public schools and stunning housing stock. Located about 30 miles from Boston, Westborough is noted as the 100th town in Massachusetts, offering an abundance of outdoor spaces and plenty of eye-catching homes. The community’s school system, Westborough Public Schools, is a big draw, with six highly rated institutions, adding to the town's many amenities.
Blend of antique and brand new homes
Realtor Karen Scopetski with Coldwell Banker Realty notes that Westborough has quite a few antique homes for about $1 million near the center of town, as well as neighborhoods with much newer houses. On Church Street, restored Victorian homes from the 1800s are priced close to $1.7 million, and modern colonials, built in 2023 on 1-acre lots, are fetching about $1.3 million on Lackey Street. You’ll also find stunning brick-front colonials for a little over $1.2 million and some 1870s Capes and townhouse units in the $500,000 price range.

Sought-after Westborough Public Schools
“Westborough’s public schools are the number one draw,” Scopetski says. The six-school district serves just under 4,000 students and has an overall Niche rating of A-plus. Students at Armstrong Elementary School, for kindergarten through third grades, recently hosted Jerry Pallotta, author of the popular "Who Would Win?" book series. Fourth- through sixth-grade students at Mill Pond School focus on one of the school’s key values each month. For example, students organized a toy and book drive to represent generosity in December. Gibbons Middle School has an A-plus Niche rating and offers students a variety of activities including jazz band, pottery and journalism club. Westborough High School, also with an A-plus rating from Niche, keeps its student body informed through The Lobby Observer, the school’s online newspaper. “The schools here are fantastic,” Scopetski says. “The sports are strong, and there are lots of AP classes.”
Spend the day outdoors
For some fresh air, check out Veteran’s Freedom Park, a quiet space that is often used for dog walking. Westborough Minuteman Park is another outdoor space well suited for a nature walk or a few moments of relaxation on one of the park benches. If you’d rather be on the water, head to Lake Chauncy, a popular spot for bass fishing and stand-up paddleboarding.
