Bringing the luxury homes of the city out to the countryside, Westlake is a sought-after town in Dallas-Fort Worth. Located on the line between Tarrant and Denton counties, this town of just under 2,000 people is home to elegant homes and sprawling estates, providing residents with an upscale lifestyle.

You’ll find several private and gated communities in Westlake, home to expansive luxury homes. You can find Spanish Revival homes with stucco siding and red tile roofs. There are French Colonial homes with hipped roofs and stone exteriors. Millennium Mansions blend styles, incorporating stone exteriors and features like turret windows into the house.

Other areas of Westlake feature ranch-style homes spread out on large lots and modern farmhouses with spacious front porches, ideal for gathering with friends and family. Mature trees stand tall throughout the town in rural areas and the subdivisions, casting shade over the homes. Many homes in Westlake utilize the backyard for in-ground swimming pools or basketball courts.

Nearly every home on the market in Westlake is listed for more than $1 million. Houses in the prestigious gated communities tend to be $3 or $4 million, frequently offering five bedrooms and six bathrooms in an 8,000-square-foot home.

Students in Westlake will likely be part of the Carroll Independent School District or the Keller Independent School District. Carroll students will attend Walnut Grove Elementary School, Durham Intermediate School, Carroll Middle School, Carroll High School and Carroll Senior High School, all of which get an A+ rating from Niche. Keller students might attend Florence Elementary School, Bear Creek Intermediate School, Keller Middle School and Keller High School, all rated an A by Niche.

Students can also attend Westlake Academy, a public charter school operated by the town. Westlake Academy is rated an A+ on Niche and serves 877 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. It is one of the only schools in the country offering three International Baccalaureate programmes, allowing students to participate in IB courses throughout their entire education. Westlake also has a successful athletic program, winning several state championships in girls’ basketball and volleyball.

Golf lovers will enjoy the proximity to the Vaquero Club, a luxurious country club with a challenging, but playable golf course for players of all levels. The club sits on 525 acres and has rolling hills, serene ponds and strong oak trees scattered throughout. The Dallas Morning News ranks the course as the eighth-best in the state.

Westlake is home to corporate campuses for several large companies, including Charles Schwab, Deloitte and Verizon. Many of these businesses are located in the Solana business park, which also has a few shops and restaurants. Sip Stir Coffee House is a vibrant space serving hot and cold drinks and breakfast items like avocado toast and cranberry scones. Pizzeria La Scala is a casual counter-serve pizza restaurant serving New York-style pies and other Italian dishes. Locals enjoy the prices, service and food at this family-owned restaurant.

Entrada at Westlake is a planned community designed to resemble a Spanish village, complete with European architecture and walkable infrastructure. When the community is finished, it will feature over 300 town houses, condos and single-family homes. A few businesses have already moved in, including a CVS Pharmacy and Starbucks, both built to match the Spanish theme of the community.

When you need to shop for groceries, you can head north to Tom Thumb in Trophy Club or south to Sprouts Farmers Market in Keller. And with the convergence of highways 114 and 170 nearby, you can easily commute around North Texas.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
