Home Farm
Classic styles influence the tracts of rustic homes here, with a hint of farmhouse flair. Most were built in the early 2000s, combining traditional and modern details like eclectic brickwork and arched entryways. Many boast large windows to take in the Colorado scenery, and two- or three-car garages are common. These single-family homes typically list between $675,000 and $1 million, depending on square footage. In another corner of the neighborhood, quaint town houses and multi-family homes attract those looking for less space without compromising amenities. Open-concept condos may sell for around $250,000, while row houses along the lake are valued at around $325,000.
The various parks and vast open spaces within the neighborhood allow residents to stretch their legs and take in the local fauna and flora. Big Dry Creek Park is a hotspot for recreation; kids climb along the playground’s structures, games are often afoot at the baseball diamond, and canine companions run around at the adjacent dog park. “People love being able to walk to Big Dry Creek Park and its playground,” says Witte, adding that the connecting walking trails within the neighborhood help foster an active lifestyle for all ages. Maintained by the neighborhood’s homeowners association, Home Farm’s pool is also an attraction for residents and a hotspot of summer activity for families. For more outdoor fun, folks head to Willowbrook Park for additional play structures and a basketball court, while anglers enjoy sitting lakeside at Metzger Farm Open Space Park, which is known for its incredible sunsets and views.
Witte says school-aged kids have many options for education here since Colorado is an open-enroll state, allowing students to attend schools outside their zoning boundary, including STEM schools, private schools and public charter schools. For public education, Home Farm students can attend institutions within the Adams 12 Five Star School District, which Niche ranks as the seventh-best school system in the Denver region. Schools within the district include Mountain View Elementary and Silver Hills Middle, with a B-minus rating or above on Niche. The middle school feeds into B-rated Mountain Range High School, where students can participate in its High School of Business. This collegiate-level business administration program allows students to earn up to 21 college credits. “Both the middle school and high school are across the street from Home Farm, and walking to school is a big plus for kids here,” Witte says.
Witte says residents find dining and shopping options along 120th Avenue, which houses sushi shops, sports bars, supermarkets and more. Nearby shopping centers include Village at Park Centre, Thorncreek Crossing and Northglenn Marketplace, with stores like Safeway, Target and World Market all within a 3-mile radius. Locals flock to favorites like The Delectable Egg for brunch and Big Mac and Little Lu’s Seafood for dinner, while Happy Lemon’s bubble tea and Satire Brewing Company’s selection of beers on tap provide refreshments.
Proximity to significant thoroughfares US-36 and I-25 makes it easy for Home Farm’s residents to connect south to Denver or northwest to Boulder. With just under 30 minutes of commute to either city, folks have even more dining, shopping and entertainment opportunities.
