Surprisingly rural Niagara
Long rural roads lead to Cape Cods, brick split levels and four-square homes with attached garages, most often built between the 1950s and 1970s. Niagara in Wheatfield offers acreage for gardening and farming at a lower price, often between $140,000 and $160,000, than other rural spots across New York.

Families and friends bring pillows, blankets and lawn chairs out on warmer weekend nights for an outdoor movie night hosted by Niagara Arts & Cultural Center off Pine Avenue. Saturday yoga sessions, board game nights and wine tastings are also popular at Freedom Run Winery in nearby Lockport. Several other attractions nearby include Whirlpool State Park and De Veaux Woods State Park.
