Surrounded by views of the Cumberland Plateau, White House is a charming suburban town undergoing a significant transformation. The community is a popular spot as more people seek out homes on the fringes of Nashville, just 26 miles away. Booming with new subdivisions, excellent schools and a small-town vibe seen throughout the many local restaurants and events throughout the year, the community keeps growing. “People moving to White House are attracted to the new, affordable homes being built as well as the natural beauty of the area. There’s a lot to be said for living on the outskirts,” says Ronda Darnell, Realtor with DR Horton, a Nashville native.
New construction and classic homes
Wandering through the streets of town, the area booms with new subdivisions comprised of modern Craftsman-style homes and classic brick colonials. However, there are still many homes built in the early 2000s. Prospective homebuyers can expect an average home price of just under $400,000, with median lot sizes around 9,147 square feet, providing ample room for backyard barbecues and a playset for the kids. Many neighborhoods boast sidewalks where kids can ride their bikes, attached garages and a homeowners association. One can find a modest two-bed, one-bath brick rancher for $245,000 or a brand-new home between the low $300,000s to the mid $400,000s, with some reaching up to $750,000 depending on the neighborhood. Buyers can also find a few multimillion-dollar properties scattered on the outskirts on large private lots, such as a modern farmhouse on 5.7 acres of sprawling green landscapes for just over $1.2 million.

Highly-rated schools in White House
The neighborhood is home to top-tier schools with high ratings on Niche within the Robertson County and Sumner County School Districts. Students may attend White House Heritage Elementary School with a B rating and White House Middle School with an A-minus. Boasting a B-plus, White House Heritage High School offers a range of after-school athletics and activities, ranging from the Future Farmers of America for those interested in agriculture to the creative writing club.

With its laid-back atmosphere, White House Pizza & Pub is a great spot for specialty pizza for the whole family. “Everything you need is within 2 miles or so. We have a post office, Kroger, Walmart Supercenter, and we’re getting a Publix soon,” Darnell says. Along with essential establishments like grocery stores, fitness studios and Ace Hardware, downtown is home to almost everything one could need.

Mornings at White House Municipal Park
White House Municipal Park is where most recreational leagues practice in town. Home to eight baseball fields, six tennis courts, two playgrounds, and an 18-hole disc golf course, the park is always busy with activity. Here, it’s common to find friends playing along the sand volleyball court or letting their furry friends run around Rover’s Ridge Dog Park. The park is also the starting point for the White House Greenway, filled with joggers at dawn and bikers at dusk. Legacy Golf Course offers different greenery for those looking to tee off on the range.

In the summer, W.L. Anderson Sports Complex offers a splash pad, an accessible playground and an outdoor amphitheater for community events, such as Music Under The Stars, where residents can enjoy live concerts. The community also holds an annual Restaurant Week, where local restaurants can show off their culinary skills, while the Jingle and Mingle Around Town encourages residents to shop small around the holidays.
