A quiet neighborhood in Wichita
In 1907, two brothers immigrated from Lebanon to Wichita, where they built a sprawling two-story duplex to fit their entire family. Known as the Frank and Harvey Ablah House, the historic landmark remains in the Crown Heights neighborhood along with a family-friendly environment. From a wide range of housing styles to well-rated public schools, those looking to settle down can easily put down roots. “This is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in the city,” says River City Realty owner-broker Jack Silvers, who has 16 years of experience in the area. The popular neighborhood is primarily residential, meaning its streets are quiet and tranquil among busier urban areas.

Architecture from Tudors to Pueblo Revivals
East of downtown Wichita, Crown Heights is composed of grid-style blocks of single-family homes and large lawns for an urban neighborhood. The uncongested area has plenty of sidewalks, making it overall walkable and bikeable. The historic Frank and Harvey Ablah House is one of 10 Art Moderne-style residential structures in Wichita and an example of the diverse housing styles in Crown Heights. “The homes are newer than neighboring College Hill, but they have an equal amount of charm, and they are a bit cheaper,” Silvers says. Crown Heights dwellings can range from $135,000 to $400,000. With gradual development between 1910 and 1940, the neighborhood’s architectural styles include Cotswold cottage-style homes, Colonial Revivals, newer Cape Cods and Tudor-inspired designs. Stucco Pueblo Revivals can also be found, though they are rarer for the neighborhood.
