Bungalows and American foursquares in the heart of ICT
Delano’s emergence as a residential area in the early 20th century still influences the neighborhood’s current identity. Craftsman-styled bungalow homes with low-pitched roofs and wide porches comprise a large chunk of Delano’s home market. Buyers can also find some American Foursquare-styled homes nearby. Homes start at the $50,000 range for properties with flip potential, with move-in-ready houses starting near the $100,000 mark. The area’s most impressive single-family homes are near the $250,000 mark. “It’s about as downtown as you can get, but the houses are a little smaller than areas like Riverside, so you can buy here at a cheaper price,” Silvers says.Trails along the Arkansas River and neighborhood parks
Seneca Park sits just south of Texas Avenue in Delano, offering a simple green space for residents to enjoy outside time away from home. Locals can take the kids to explore the park’s playground or play a round of pickleball or tennis. Regular drink specials and Happy Hours are the order of the day at Shamrock Lounge, an Irish pub and local spot for concerts and open mic nights. Riverfront Stadium hosts home games for the Wichita Wind Surge, a Minor League Baseball team affiliated with the Minnesota Twins. “People who live in the neighborhood love to walk to the stadium on game days. It only opened in 2020, but it’s been a huge addition to Delano,” Silvers says.2 miles east of downtown Wichita
