The most notable landmark is the MacDonald Golf Course, a public 18-hole course with ponds and mature trees on three acres. MacDonald Park has a playground and a paved walking trail on the east side of the course. Academic competitions and DECA
Hyde Elementary School has an overall Niche grade of B, and students at Hyde set yearly WIGs, or “Wildly Important Goals,” that are tracked for progress weekly throughout the school year. Across the street from Hyde, Robinson Middle School has a B-plus overall grade and allows students to be involved members of the NAL team. The National Academic League is a scholastic competition where middle school students answer questions regarding literature, science and math. Wichita East High School offers students membership in DECA, an organization for business, marketing and management that gives students scholarships for post-secondary education, and it has a B-plus overall grade. MacDonald is also one mile south of Wichita State University, which enrolls over 10,000 students.
