In 1942, during World War II, Planeview and neighboring Beechwood were developed to house defense contractors working at McConnell Air Force Base. Planeview’s mid-20th century housing, composed primarily of ranch-style homes, continues to house hundreds of residents, while the airbase continues to serve in its historical functions.
