A couple of miles east is Airlie Gardens, a 67-acre public botanical garden featuring a native butterfly house, walking trails through live oaks and a massive willow tree, and art sculptures. Less than five miles east is Wrightsville Beach, where it’s popular to search for seashells, sunbathe or swim.
