Split-levels and colonials accents sit on large lots
Bushkill Township offers a wide range of home styles and architectural frameworks from split-levels and ranch-style dwellings to larger properties with colonial accents on huge, sprawling lots. A smaller 1,000-square-foot home can price between $100,000 and $300,000 while properties with five bedrooms may range from $400,000 to upwards of $1 million. The housing market in Bushkill is competitive, mainly because of the strong schools in the area and the large lot sizes. "There's kind of a township rule in Bushkill that homes need to be on an acre or more of land, so everyone has more space to spread out," Ziemba says. "Typically what I see happening is people will move to Nazareth for the school district, and when their kids get a little bit older, they go to Bushkill Township so they can have a little bit more space." According to Ziemba, homes in Bushkill Township usually tend to sell quicker than the national average.Guitars, golf, and the great outdoors
Bushkill Township is a haven for lovers of the great outdoors. On the neighborhood's east side is Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center — a 1,168-acre region popular among hikers, mountain bikers and wildlife watchers. For something a little more challenging, residents can go to North Summit Climbing Gym to reach new heights. Local golfers can book a weekend tee time at Southmoore Golf Course, stationed just west of the township, while musicians and history buffs alike tour the Martin Guitar 1833 Shop and Museum. During the summer, the township comes alive for the annual carnival hosted by the Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company at Bushkill Township Park. Featuring local vendors, rides for both children and adults and a beer garden, the carnival is a major draw for much of the area.Strong athletics program at Area Nazareth High School
Bushkill students are served by the acclaimed Nazareth Area School District. Children from kindergarten to Grade 4 may go to Kenneth N. Butz Junior Elementary School, formerly named Bushkill Elementary School, in the heart of the township before advancing to Nazareth Area Middle School. Both schools earn an overall Niche grade of A-minus or better. Teens can attend the A-graded Nazareth Area High School, which offers a strong fine arts department on top of a competitive athletics program, which has produced several world-class athletes including NFL wide receiver Jahan Dotson.
Access to nearby cities
Over an hour away from the nearest major metropolitan areas, Bushkill Township offers few options for those who prefer getting around on public transportation. Locals will need a car to navigate the area. On the plus side, Bushkill residents can get to Philadelphia or New York City in under two hours thanks to Route 33, which connects to multiple nearby highways.Dining options range from traditional American cuisine to all things chicken
Despite being more of a rural community, Bushkill Township residents have lots of nearby restaurants to choose from. Family & Friends Country is an area staple for its robust breakfast menu and outdoor picnic area while The Chicken Corner is popular among lovers of all things chicken. Cherry Hill Hotel's bar and grill also draws guests in search of traditional American foods from burgers to pork chops. For groceries, locals often pick up fresh meats and produce from Ahart's Market 5 miles west in Bath while additional shopping options can be found closer to Nazareth.
