Winthrop housing near the airport

The Court Park community, less than a mile from the center of Winthrop, has waterfront houses with views of the Boston skyline. Homes built in the early 1900s are just a short walk away from parks and shopping options, and downtown Boston is accessible by bus, subway, ferry or car. Boston Logan International Airport is less than 5 miles from the community. “It’s a great place, as it is one of the few communities in the area with both a small-town coastal vibe as well as access to the city in 10 minutes with public transportation,” says Elizabeth Ferrara, a partner with Cottage Hill Real Estate who has lived in Winthrop all of her life. “You get a nice sense of separation from the city.”

Soundproofed coastal homes

Housing in Court Park offers benefits that homebuyers might expect from coastal properties. These homes are often more spacious compared to residences closer to downtown Boston and offer front yards shaded by oak trees that line the sidewalks. Craftsman, American Foursquare and Colonial Revival styles are common here, many of which were built in the early 1900s. Some houses in the area have water views and perhaps surprisingly, minimal airplane noise. “The airport paid to have everyone’s homes soundproofed, so we don’t hear the noise from the airport,” Ferrara says. Home prices often range from $500,000 to $1.1 million. There are also a few townhouses and condos, which may list from $750,000 to $810,000.

Annual parades in Winthrop

Even with Winthrop’s small size, the community hosts multiple events throughout the year. There is an annual Fourth of July celebration that begins with a Horrible's Parade, where costumed residents march around the community and pass out candy. “We have a massive fireworks display; we even get a lot of out-of-towners coming down to be a part of it,” Ferrara says. The parades continue on Christmas Eve, when Santa arrives on a firetruck and waves to the children.
