Crosspointe offers community and top schools near D.C.

Only 20 miles southwest of D.C. sits Crosspointe, a community-rich suburb. “There’s a large Fall Festival every year and a community yard sale that gets a ton of participation,” says Keller Williams realtor Ron Kowalski. “The HOA is great, and they put time back into the community and it shows, there’s always people at the public pools, especially for swim team events.” With large homes on vast lots and an excellent school district, it’s no surprise that Crosspointe is a destination for those looking to settle in northern Virginia.

Brick Colonial Revivals and 1980s builds line quiet streets

Home prices begin near $750,000 for a four-bedroom build from 1986 and range up to $1.25 million for five-bedroom brick Colonial Revival models. “The homes in Crossponite are beautiful,” states Kowalski. The large windows of the homes look out onto the vast front lawns. Street parking is not an issue, as many of the homes feature driveways and multi-car garages. The homes are spread out in an unplanned map that gives each street a unique feel, and the large cul-de-sacs provide privacy and quiet. Mature oak trees line the flat wide sidewalks and provide shade for morning walks with the dog. Many residents have tried their hand at gardening in the front yards, while spacious backyards are great for entertaining.

FCPS offers open enrollment and magnet programs

Children in Crosspointe attend the Fairfax County Public Schools district, which rates an A on Niche and offers school choice through elementary magnet programs focused on arts and sciences, open enrollment within district boundaries, and limited out-of-district transfers. Magnet seats are filled by lottery, while transfers and open enrollment depend on space availability and district policy. Many kids start at A-rated Silverbrook Elementary. “Silverbrook has consistently been a sought-after school for people buying homes,” says Kowalski. The recently renovated school, “got a major facelift and it looks fantastic.” From there students can go on to A-rated South County Middle, and eventually A-minus-rated South County High. South County Middle offers a variety of after-school programs from the Science Olympiad to Technology Student Association. Residents are proud supporters of the South County Stallions basketball team which has won two state championships since 2018.

Heron Pond and Glen Eagles Pool are popular for outdoor rec

Residents stay active by hiking the miles of trails throughout the neighborhood. A focal point of the trails is Heron Pond where the community will gather for monthly fishing outings. More regular anglers can be seen out at the pond daily. The Glen Eagles Pool is located right near the Crosspointe Community Center and has lap lanes. The center also has a recreation area and tennis courts. The community holds events such as the Crosspointe Harvest Festival each fall with games, food trucks and entertainment.

Crosspointe Market and Fuse Box offer shopping and dining

Fuse Box is a popular dining out spot that combines the tenets of multiple Asian cuisines to produce a new twist on favorites such as General Tso’s chicken and barbecue spareribs. For Italian, Squisito Pizza and Pasta allows customers build their own hand-tossed pizzas or enjoy classics like penne broccoli, tortellini primavera or tiramisu.

Crosspointe Market is a family-owned business with a large selection of craft beer and wine, as well as a full deli that offers sandwiches and salads. Locals pop in to grab coffee or a freshly baked pastry in the morning and can stop by for necessities like toiletries and cleaning products after work. For more variety, Crosspointe has two Giant Food locations in the neighborhood complete with a pharmacy and delivery options. For full retail options, Potomac Mills is a full shopping mall located just 6 miles away.
