A former farming community, Woodcliff Lake's road used to be jammed up every weekend in the fall as New Yorkers drove across state lines to fill their cars with pumpkins, apple cider and freshly baked doughnuts. While the farms are long gone, the community spirit is still alive and well. Tice Farms, a former popular farm, is now a strip mall with upscale stores. But it's also still a neighborhood gathering place. Tice's Corner Marketplace hosts an annual fall harvest festival and a food truck festival, while the borough's pool always as a summer bash event. "Plain and simple, it's a very big community town," says Linda Stamker, a licensed real estate sales associate with Compass.

Woodcliff Lake's housing stock "has something for everyone," Stamker says. While most prices fall somewhere in the range of $1.5 million and $2.2 million, houses also appear on the market between $600,000 and $900,000. Woodcliff Lake has many historic homes, some dating from the 1800s. There are also many luxurious manor estates featuring manicured lawns, pools and, in some cases, private drives. Homes feature a minimum of four bedrooms, with some as many as seven bedrooms. Some residents have views of the Woodcliff Lake Reservoir from their homes.

Children can attend the highly-rated Woodcliff Lake Public Schools for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Students begin their educational journey at Dorchester Elementary School before attending Woodcliff Middle School. For high school, students attend Pascack Hills High School with students from the neighboring borough of Montvale. Pascack Hills High School has a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1 and has earned an overall A rating from Niche. The high school offers a few world language programs, including Chinese, French, Spanish and Italian. Students can also participate in dual enrollment classes. Several colleges and universities, including Seton Hall University, Syracuse University and Ramapo College, offer such courses.

Spanning 118 acres over two boroughs, Wood Dale County Park is a popular community gathering spot. Here, kids romp around the playground while dogs run and catch each other's tails at the dog parks. Neighbors catch up on walks or over a friendly game of tennis. The park also has athletic fields and fishing spots. Residents can beat the summer heat at the community pool. The Woodcliff Lake Municipal Pool offers a water slide, playground and picnic area. Nearby are community baseball fields and tennis courts.

A New Jersey town without a bagel shop isn't really a New Jersey town, is it? Have no fear. Woodcliff Lake is home to Johns Famous Bagels, where residents can enjoy bagel sandwiches, paninis, wraps, and so much more. Near the lakefront is Casa Del Sole, a local Italian deli that has been named the best of the best five times in a row. Shop until you drop at Tice's Corner Marketplace. Popular stores include Anthropologie, J.Crew, Pottery Barn, Nike and William Sonoma. Nearby is the local Whole Foods, where you can stock your fridge with fresh groceries.

With the borough being about 25 miles from Midtown Manhattan, Woodcliff Lake residents have a few commuting options for work or play. They can hop on the train at the Woodcliff Lake station, ride the bus or drive. If there is no reason to Woodcliff Lake, you probably rarely will, thanks to how much is always happening in this quaint borough.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
