The sound of a helicopter whirring through the air is common in Woods Cross, a suburban city about 10 miles north of Salt Lake City. The area’s Skypark Airport houses the KSL News traffic helicopter, which is known to take off at 5 a.m. on most mornings. In addition to the airport, Woods Cross has a primarily residential landscape, serving as a bedroom community for its population of about 11,500 people. “It used to be all fields and farmlands years ago, and they took that land and put newer homes in,” says Realtor Dan Nix with Coldwell Banker Realty, who has over 20 years of experience and operates throughout Davis County. “Woods Cross is about 15 minutes from the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, so it’s a great commute for people.”
While most residents commute downtown, some local workers thrive in the construction and education industries. Top employers in the area include Silver Eagle Refining and Legacy Prep Academy.
