Quiet living just outside downtown Worcester
A quaint community just east of downtown Worcester, Bell Hill is known for its parks, restaurants and characteristic triple-decker architecture. The expansive Green Hill Park sits beside the neighborhood, giving residents an easy-access oasis from the busyness of urban life. Its long walking trails and unique amenities attract locals and visitors alike, and some of the city's best swimming is in the neighborhood at Bell Pond. Residents take advantage of their proximity to the Shrewsbury Street dining district and are at ease knowing they're so close to the city's most prominent hospital. Though the city of Worcester offers so much to do, Bell Hill residents can live a calm and quiet lifestyle only minutes away from the city's center.
Bell Hill's triple-decker homes
"Like Worcester at large, Bell Hill is known for its multifamily homes," says Realtor Lee Joseph of Coldwell Banker Realty in Worcester, who received a Diamond Level Award from the Realtor Association of Central Massachusetts. Specifically, Bell Hill is known for its triple-deckers, stacked triplexes which typically house three separate units. Originally designed to give extended family members separate living spaces within the same building, these houses are now largely rentals, ranging in purchase price from $200,000 to upwards of $800,000. Some single-family homes are here, though, often bungalows or two-story colonial or Cape Cod homes. The median price in Bell Hill is about $285,000, with single-family homes tending to fall on the lower end, around $200,000 to $300,000, and triple-deckers generally selling for higher.

Walking trails through Green Hill Park and swimming in Bell Pond
The Bell Hill neighborhood borders Green Hill Park, the largest park in Worcester. Spanning nearly 500 acres, this former farmland and country estate sits atop one of Worcester's seven hills and has amenities like a golf course, sports fields, playgrounds and a skate park. Animal lovers enjoy stopping by its free petting zoo, and the community honors its vets at the park's Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The park's a stop along the East-West Trail, a 14-mile crosstown path connecting all of Worcester's Hills. The smaller neighborhood greenspace of Bell Hill Park sits in the neighborhood at the foot of Bell Pond. Worcester's first reservoir and water supply, the spot is now a popular swimming destination in the summertime, and locals enjoy the park's basketball court, field and playground year-round. The centrally located Grant Square is another neighborhood park with a playground and community gardens.
