South Quinsigamond Village is steps from the heart of Worcester.
Workforce neighborhood
In the early 20th century, neighbors woke up daily in South Quinsigamond Village and went to work at the local manufacturing plants. Mills shut down and Worcester moved into the post-industrial age, but the neighborhood remains an urban residential area with cracked, sloped streets. “It’s a blue-collar neighborhood,” says Tony Economou, associate with RE/MAX Vision in Worcester and a former member of the Worcester City Council. “It’s a blend of families, students and professors, just minutes from downtown, and it’s a great location for access to Polar Park in Worcester, the shining star of late.”
Sloped streets
Residential development in South Quinsigamond Village happened throughout the 20th century. Typical New England builds, like Cape Cods, conventional houses, bungalows and multifamily homes exist here. Dirt dead-end streets, bumpy roads and even potholes are typical off the main road, and some parts of the neighborhood are hilly and sloped. Most houses have driveways, and some have small garages. Prices range between $222,000 and $531,000.

Commuter access
A perk of South Quinsigamond Village is its proximity to highways. The neighborhood sits west of Route 146, the Worcester-Providence Turnpike. It’s minutes north of the Massachusetts Turnpike, one of two east-west highways in the state. Since the Mass Pike runs to Boston, South Quinsigamond Village can be a solid choice for daily commuters to the capital. “It’s also a gateway to people who work south of the city,” says Economou. Neighbors can get to downtown Worcester in ten minutes, and the neighboring town of Millbury is just minutes away by taking Greenwood Street. Polar Park, the new home of the Worcester Red Sox, is a 10-minute drive.
Bike trails and splash pads
The Blackstone River Bikeway is a cycling trail that runs alongside the Blackstone River, a crucial power source during the Industrial Revolution. Parking for the trail is available in South Quinsigamond Village off Millbury Street. Bikers will eventually be able to ride for 48 miles from downtown Worcester to Providence, but for now people can bike between Worcester and the nearby town of Millbury. The 14-acre Greenwood Park is an outdoor gathering spot for South Quinsigamond Village residents. Neighbors play pickup games on its basketball courts, and kids splash around in its spray park. A forested nature trail exists for walks through the woods, and the park also has basketball and tennis courts, a multipurpose field, a softball diamond and a playground.
