Home to 24,000, the community is quickly developing commercially, infrastructurally and residentially to accommodate its growing population. Golfing the King & Bear and boating St. Johns River
The World Golf Village subdivision is home to two renowned 18-hole golf courses. The first course, The Slammer & Squire, was built in 1998 by golf architect Bobby Weed and pros Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen. The King & Bear, a famous collaboration between Arnold Palmer, known as “The King,” and Jack Niklaus, the “Golden Bear,” opened in 2000. The 18-hole course has received many accolades over the past 25 years, and the course recently reopened in 2024 after a $2.5 million revitalization. Gated subdivisions like Markland and Murabella feature private amenity-rich parks for residents. Toward the St. Johns River, Trout Creek Memorial Park and Marina offers more rustic recreation, featuring a playground surrounded by forest and boat slips for those looking to get on the water. Another avenue for waterfront fun lies only 15 miles east on Verano Beach’s sandy shores.
