Quiet neighborhood with diverse architecture
A quiet, leafy neighborhood on the southern edge of Montgomery County, Wyndmoor is known for its diverse architecture that bundles modest single-family homes with stunning up-scale mansions. “There’s a lot of history in the architecture,” says local Realtor Wendie Steffens of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty. “And I’d definitely say it’s a friendly, family-oriented neighborhood.”

Older homes in a slow market
Wyndmoor has many older homes, some with original stone siding from the late 1800s. Steffens says they’re “old on the outside, but new on the inside,” so residents can have the charm of a turn-of-the-20th-century home with the luxury of modern living. While some homes date back to the 1870s, there are newer options from the early 2000s. Homes can be anywhere from 1,150 to 7,100 square feet. They rest on lots that range from 2,000 square feet to just over an acre. Not many residents are looking to leave the area, however, so the housing market moves pretty slowly with prices that range from $260,000 to upward of $2,000,000. That being said, when a house does go up for sale, it’s quickly snatched up due to the low inventory, resulting in an average number of days on the market for Wyndmoor that’s less than half the national average. There are a total of about 2,080 homes in the neighborhood.

Follow the elephants
Elephant Park is a great place for a picnic under shady trees while kids enjoy the elephant-themed playground equipment. The park isn’t just popular for its elephants, it’s also a common spot for locals to walk their dogs. Tennis players can also head to the tennis court at the adjacent Wyndhill Park. Kids who play sports can join a youth league with fields at Veterans Park and Laurel Beech Park. Every summer, the community gathers at Veterans Park for the Wyndmoor Hose Company Carnival. The highly anticipated event features carnival rides, games, festival food, an antique car show and caps off with a fireworks show.

Pizza and farm fresh produce
Locals enjoy the fact that Wyndmoor is a small town. But a small town means not as much business so most people head over to neighboring Chestnut Hill for their shopping and dining needs. However, there are some local staples beloved by the community like Tony’s Pizza City, which has been serving breakfast, lunch and dinner since 1962. Right next door is Captain Andy’s Market, a popular spot to get fresh farm produce and fish.
