Located on the eastern side of York County, about 6 miles from downtown, Yorklyn has easy access to some of the area’s best amenities. The area blends residential areas with commercial and industrial buildings and government buildings, including the York County Prison. The community is bordered by major roadways on the north and south, allowing for easy access throughout the eastern York area. There are also plenty of shops and dining options close by, including the York Mall Shopping Center and York Town Center, meaning residents won’t have to travel into the city for a good meal or for some retail therapy. Residents looking to spend the day outdoors have several options close by as well, including the expansive Susquehanna River.
Classic homes
Many of the homes in Yorklyn were built in the 1950s, with single-story ranchers dominating the architectural landscape, but there are some Cape Cods and Colonials as well. Homes often sit on spacious lots, including some properties that stretch over a quarter of an acre, providing plenty of yard space. Some homes in the area built in the 80s have sold in the high $200,000 range, with multiple-vehicle garages and spacious floor plans. Homes in Yorklyn, on average, are priced less than properties in neighboring Hallam and Stonybrook, typically ranging between $210,000 and $280,000. Rental properties are parsed throughout the community in apartment and townhome communities, as well.

Central York Schools District
School-aged children can likely walk to class as Stony Brook Elementary School is located in the neighborhood. Stony Brook has an overall B Niche grade and will probably be followed by North Hills Elementary, teaching students from fourth to sixth grade. Next up is Central York Middle School, which has a B-plus overall Niche grade and offers various extracurriculars, including a track and field team that recently had an undefeated season. Students will then attend Central York High School, which boasts an A-minus Niche grade and a student-teacher ratio of 16-to-1.
Move on from middle school to Central York High School.
Stony Brook Elementary has a 13 to 1 student-teacher ratio.
York Suburban Middle School hosts 684 students in grades 6-8.

Springettsbury Park
For a day outdoors, head to Springettsbury Park, which boasts 51 acres of recreational amenities. The park has several athletic fields, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts and picnic areas perfect for an afternoon lunch. The amphitheater on the park grounds provides seating for up to 1,200 people and hosts concerts throughout the year.

Local shops and eateries
However, there’s plenty to do nearby, whether it’s bowling at Laser Alleys or looking for second-hand antiques at American Daydream Antiques. There are many dining options along Lincoln Highway, including The First Post, a popular eatery serving American fare and seafood options. Options vary from sushi at Oyako, Italian at Marino’s or Mexican fare at El Serrano. After a meal, stop by Maple Donuts for a specialty donut or fruit smoothie. The community is also just minutes away from the York Mall and York Town Center, which has big box retailers, including Walmart, Best Buy and Dick’s Sporting Goods, among many others.

Getting around East York
Residents have quick access to many of the major roads in the area, with U.S. Route 30 running along the northern side of the community and Lincoln Highway to the south. Rabbittransit has several stops throughout the community as well, giving residents access to the city.
If you need a ride, there are several bus stops just outside of Springetts Manor-Yorklyn.
