Park is the central hub
Newport residents live in vintage homes near sprawling Mill Creek Park. In recent years, city officials have partnered with local non-profits to demolish abandoned houses and add new economy-boosting developments. Houses are situated on manicured lots, measuring less than ¼ acre, and streetlamps stand sentry along gridded, tree-lined streets where kids play and neighbors walk their dogs. “This is the first neighborhood in the area to have paved sidewalks and garages,” says Maureen Spear, Realtor with Nexthome Go30 Realty, who sold three homes here. “The homes are sturdy and well-built.”
