Country living just 8 miles from Lake Apopka

Zellwood is so small that passersby might drive right through it. Less than 4 square miles, it has just a single traffic light and is surrounded by marshes, farms and citrus orchards. Known for its signature Zellwood Sweet Corn, filled with tractor pulls and surrounded by farms and lakes, Zellwood is a neighborhood for those wanting a taste of the simple life. “Residents are attracted to Zellwood for how secluded it is. There’s a small-town feel, with rural cornfields and citrus orchards and lots of quiet,” says Keith Leveson, Realtor at MVP Realty with over 20 years of business experience in Central Florida. While residents are in a small town, they still have access to highly-rated schools and easy convenience to larger cities like Orlando.

Ranches and contemporary communities in a rural setting

The town’s country vibe is reflected in its home styles, which include large ranch houses with front porches and picket fence-lined lots. For traditional and contemporary midsized homes, buyers can visit the master-planned community of Lenar at Stoneybrook Hills. This subdivision comes with a resort-style swimming pool, gym, basketball and tennis courts, as well as a fully equipped clubhouse. The newest construction in town is Westridge Park, which provides a private park, tot lot and swimming pool. Zellwood also caters to senior residents. Zellwood Station is a resident-owned, gated community. It has more than 1,200 manufactured homes and provides an on-site 18-hole golf course. These homes typically cost between $100,000 and $155,000, while ranches and newer homes cost between $250,000 and $600,000.

Getting around Orange County

West Orange Blossom Trail runs through the community, offering a major thoroughfare that connects residents throughout Central Florida, Orlando and Interstate 4. “Very few people know you can take the backroads to Orlando,” says Realtor and local Jessica Remillard with Wemert Group Realty. “If you want to be a 30-minute drive from Orlando and not encounter any traffic, being close to the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and 429 is an excellent place to be.” I-4 is about 20 miles away, but residents can get to it quickly, making Zellwood still a convenient location for those who want to commute to Orlando’s Central Business District. Those needing to get out of Florida are just 30 miles from Orlando International Airport. Surrounded by farms, but close to Orlando amenities, Zellwood is a good option for buyers seeking a little piece of country.
