Ramona Park is a dense neighborhood with broad buyer appeal
If home is where the heart is, buying in Long Beach’s Ramona Park should get your blood pumping. “Miles and miles of homes in that area,” quips Alan Fasnacht of Team Fasnacht Realty. “But it’s a nice neighborhood. The homes appeal to buyers because they sell right away and they come at a price point that is lower than similar homes in other areas of Long Beach, like Bixby Knolls.”

Ranch-style homes with wide lots and large front garages
The median price of a home in Ramona Park is around $650,000, about $200,000 less than in Bixby Knolls. And Ramona Park’s homes are not as old. “They were built later, mostly in the 1960s, and some are even newer,” says Fasnacht. “But they are in a more moderate price range. Everything will be less than $800,000.” Owing to the difference in when Ramona Park was developed, its housing is unlike the more established areas of Long Beach. While typical homes in older areas of the city sit close together on lots that stretch out into spacious backyards, most of the homes in Ramona Park sit on wider lots and feature two things you rarely see in the front of established homes: large garages and spacious yards. The typical Ramona Park home exhibits the characteristics of a ranch-style home. “They are a little more midcentury in their design,” says Fasnacht. The neighborhood is not overly homogenous, though, and does have its share of architectural diversity. Most of Ramona Park is built out, but it’s also built up, as several multilevel homes stand out. In addition, you can find smaller minimal traditional homes, often remodeled, and quaint bungalows. Alternative housing includes a handful of town houses with plenty of garage space and The Chateau of Long Beach, a senior care facility with assisted living and independent living options.
