It's been quite a while since I've been in the school but while i was there the teachers were straight forward. If you needed the help it would be given to you. The grading was due to them some valued homework more than classwork it all depended on the teacher. The knowledge mostly matters on the student they really have to be engaged to what they are doing and take up the lessons being taught, as well as the teacher how they teach.

Run, don't walk from this school.....look at the test results, the 6th graders perform worst over their three years......which means this school harms the children's learning progression.
