Toward the northwestern part of Queens, Maspeth is notable for its appealing residential streets which give the area a small-town quality. East of Newtown Creek and south of Sunnyside, the neighborhood’s location offers proximity to Manhattan with a reprieve from the city’s hustle and bustle. “There’s a very suburban feel, but it’s still very close to the city,” says Debi Lucas, a real estate salesperson with the Debi Lucas Team with Compass, who has been selling in the neighborhood for 10 years. Maspeth has an industrial western side, storefronts and businesses along Flushing Avenue, and many two-family homes. “If you’re looking for a quieter residential area, that’s the other environment that it offers,” says Lucas.
Maspeth

Single and two-family homes, with style variety
Much of Maspeth is comprised of single-family and two-family homes, often with historic Tudor or brick architecture, though there’s a broad variety. Ranch houses, colonial and frame houses can be found throughout the neighborhood. A single-family detached or semi-attached house runs between $739,000 and $1.3 million. Two-family or multi-family homes can cost between $995,000 and $2 million. Coops are rare, though a few coop buildings, including Ridgewood Gardens, can be found north of the Long Island Expressway.
Dining options near Grand Avenue, and O’Neill’s
Many restaurants can be found near Grand Avenue, including Wakamatsu, which serves sushi and Japanese cuisine and Connolly’s Corner, which offers New American fare in a spacious location. Off 69th Street, Rosa’s Pizza has been spinning up Sicilian slices since 1975. Locals enjoy pints, steaks, and hearty options at O’Neill’s on 53rd Drive, which has been in the neighborhood for over 90 years. Groceries can be found at the Stop & Shop in Maspeth Center.
Tennis and basketball courts at Frank Principe Park
North of the Queens Midtown Expressway, Frank Principe Park occupies nearly nine acres, with baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts and a playground. A few other small parks and playgrounds, including Frontera Park on 58th Avenue, can be found, with the six-acre Elmhurst Park to the east of 74th Street. Much of the green space in Maspeth is devoted to cemeteries, with Mt. Zion and Calvary Cemeteries to the north, and Mount Olivet Cemetery to the south.

IS 73 The Frank Sansivieri School has a B plus rating and ranks in the top 25% of best public middle schools, according to Niche. Annual events, including the Grand Avenue Street Fair

Buses, plus the Long Island Expressway
Buses run along Flushing Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue. Drivers can access the Long Island Expressway to Manhattan and Queens, which runs through the neighborhood. Subway access can be found a short distance outside the neighborhood, with the M train stopping nearby at Middle Village on Metropolitan Avenue. To the north, the 7 train can be found at 52nd Street and 61st Woodside, along with the Long Island Railroad. LaGuardia International Airport is less than six miles away.
