Energy and momentum are two things that the town of Meridian, Idaho, has in abundance. This fast-growing metropolis recently passed up a few other well-known locales to become the third-largest city in the state. The remarkable increase in residents over the last few decades means that most of the construction is fairly new and clean, meaning well-cared for homes line the picturesque streets. Whether you’re looking for a conservatively-priced starter home or a spacious mansion, you’re sure to find a dwelling that’s just right.

One perk about Meridian that is different from most other towns is the carefully planned and organized infrastructure. A basic grid design makes it simple to find where you need to go, and an advanced transit system makes it quick to get there. The ease of navigation makes it possible to find the many things that have encouraged people to move here over the years. The Boise and Snake Rivers are both nearby and offer fishing, canoeing, kayaking and more. Other fun summer activities include a large waterpark, several public parks and Eagle Island State Park, complete with a man-made lake, water slide, beach and several hiking and equestrian trails. For those interested in bird-watching, there is also the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conversation Area.

One of the best things about Meridian is the many activities that are held to bring members of the community together. The locals parks often host outdoor movies for residents at no charge. The city’s symphony orchestra has been delighting audiences for over 20 years and an art gallery provides additional cultural exposure. A newly-built shopping mall includes a movie theater, bowling arcade, several retail centers, a variety of restaurants, a fitness center and, in the winter, an outdoor skating rink. There’s a playground for the kids and a fountain that features an hourly light and music show. Another exciting event is an open-air urban market held each week which provides an opportunity for locals to showcase their art and music talent, taste dishes from nearby restaurants and sell food and goods at a farmer’s and artisan market. Not only does this give the town’s members a chance to socialize and bond, but also to endear visitors to the city. This type of urban development is exactly what local leaders have been striving to accomplish in order to promote community spirit, local industry and a sense of pride for its residents.
